Theresia Volk berät vorwiegend Großorganisationen. Obgleich vielfach von Verantwortung geredet wird, scheint es doch immer schwieriger zu werden, bestimmten AkteurInnen eine/ihre Verantwortung zuzuschreiben. Wer für etwas ursächlich »verantwortlich« ist – insbesondere, wenn etwas schiefläuft – lässt sich kaum noch bestimmen. Der klassische Dreiklang der Verantwortung, das »Wer (Subjekt), das Wofür (Objekt) und das Wovor (Instanz)«, erodiert an allen drei Ecken und lässt sich nicht mehr sinnvoll verknüpfen. Gleichzeitig wächst der Wunsch nach Autoritäten in Bezug auf Fachlichkeit, Entscheidungshoheit und Verantwortungsübernahme. Autoritätsverlust und Verantwortungsdiffusion haben aber dieselbe Wurzel, so Theresia Volk. Sie schildert, was das für Beratung bedeutet: dass zum Beispiel die altbewährte Rollenschärfung nur noch ein stumpfes Schwert darstellt im individuellen Risikomanagement, in das VerantwortungsträgerInnen nolens volens geraten sind. Und dass Regelverletzungskompetenz aufgebaut werden muss.

Theresia Volk mainly advises large organizations. Although there is a lot of talk about responsibility, it seems to be increasingly difficult to attribute responsibility to certain actors. Who is causally »responsible« for something – especially when something goes wrong – can hardly be determined anymore. The classic triad of responsibility, the »Who (subject), the What For (object) and the To Whom (instance),« is eroding at all three corners and can no longer be linked in a meaningful way. At the same time, there is a growing desire for clear responsibilities, for authorities with regard to professionalism, decision-making and the assumption of responsibility. However, loss of authority and diffusion of responsibility have the same root, according to Theresia Volk. She describes what this means for consulting: for example, that the well-tried clarification of roles is only a blunt sword in individual risk management, into which responsible persons have fallen nolens volens. And that rule-breaking competence is required.
