The book deals with the films of the famous director Stanley
Kubrick. What meaning has the monolith in »2001: A space Odyssey«?
Why does a wave of blood flow out of an elevator into a hotel
corridor in »Shining«? In several film analysis the author examines
the forms and concepts in Kubrick/'s work from a psychoanalytic
perspective. In addition to this, the contents and effects of his
films are examined a well as their genesis and historical
background. Among Kubrick/'s early work as a photographer, all his
motion pictures and his never realized film project Aryan Paper are
discussed by the author. At the end of the book a bibliography can
be found.
Die Monographie widmet sich den Filmen des Regisseurs Stanley
Kubrick. Welche Bedeutung hat der Monolith in 2001: A Space
Odyssey? Warum strömt in Shining eine Blutwelle aus einer
Fahrstuhltür in einen Hotelflur? In seinen Filmanalysen hinterfragt
der Autor aus psychoanalytischer Sicht die Formen und Konzepte in
und von Kubricks Werken. Untersucht werden zudem ihr Inhalt und
ihre Wirkung, zeitgeschichtliche Zusammenhänge sowie
entstehungsgeschichtliche Hintergründe. Jacke behandelt neben
Kubricks frühen Fotoarbeiten sämtliche Spielfilme des Regisseurs
sowie das nicht realisierte Filmprojekt Aryan Papers. Am Ende des
Buchs findet sich ein Literaturverzeichnis.
